Every homeschool mama needs encouragement at times. Some days we may need it on a daily, or even hourly, basis! There’s no better place to go than straight to God’s word to encourage our hearts, and to remind us to fix our eyes on Him. These 6 bible verses to encourage homeschool mamas are powerful in their message and short enough to easily memorize, which is of the greatest help in those moments when we most need to be encouraged.
Use these truths from God’s word to encourage your own heart or to encourage a friend. They are even beneficial for memorizing as a family to help everyone to look to our Savior for guidance, strength, and peace.
Give your worries to God.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (NIV)
When we trust God we place our worries, concerns, and plans in God’s hands. He has our best interests at heart, always. He is good all the time, even on the days when our circumstances may seem to tell us otherwise. We don’t want to look to our circumstances for guidance, though. They will lie to us every time – the enemy will lie to us every single time! Find peace and comfort in the truth that the Lord provides guidance, advice, and is always watching over us in order to make sure that we travel the best path.
Commit your life to the Lord.
-
- Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD, and your plans will be established. (NET)
What a wonderful reminder that when we commit our lives and all that we do to the service of our Lord, we will find success. We may not succeed as the world succeeds, but as a follower of Christ, influencing and guiding others to look to their ultimate healer, Jesus.
Your strength is found only in the Lord.
- Philippians 4:13 I can do all things in him who strengthens me. (RSV)
This verse has become a mantra of sorts for anything and everything people want to accomplish in life. However, the main thrust for you to hold onto is that Jesus has given himself to dwell in the believer to empower the life that Jesus can live in and through that believer. So if it’s patience that’s necessary, peace that’s needed, grace that must be given, turn to Jesus and ask him to do as promised and live in place of you. The strength needed for the situation is there, “in him who strengthens,” not in you or me, in Him!
Remind yourself from where your help comes!
- Psalm 121:1-2 I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (NLT)
Oh, how easy it is to forget where our help comes from! So many times moms are wading through the trenches of raising children, keeping the home, loving their husbands, serving in their communities, and the mountains of every day can seem insurmountable. But when we remember that our help lies in Jesus, that He is simply waiting for us to cry out to Him, our next steps can be filled with peace, comfort, and joy, despite the hurdles we may need to jump in the future.
Trust Him Daily
- Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (ESV)
Trusting in the Lord may seem like a given. Of course you trust in your God! But are your daily actions displaying this trust? Do you feel the peace that comes from trusting in Him? Fixing our thoughts on Him – all that He is and does, all that He has given, all that He has created and provided for us – will bring more trust and more peace.
Encourage One Another
- 1 Thessalonians 5:11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. (NLT)
Mamas are some of the most encouraging people in the world! You live your lives encouraging your children and your husband. You often encourage other moms in your lives that they can raise their children and keep their homes well. You find encouragement for yourselves through your churches and your friends. You pray with others who need hope and comfort. Other mamas need your encouragement.
But don’t forget the verse says to “encourage each other“. You, dear mama also need encouragement! Be sure to accept it when it comes, and surround yourself with supportive people. If you don’t have anyone in your life like that, begin meeting new people so you can develop those kinds of friendships! Community and encouragement are so important as we walk this journey together.
